Amul Dairy | The epicenter of White Revolution of India

Amul Dairy | The epicenter of White Revolution of India

Amul Dairy is home to white revolution of India. Inspired by Indian Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel a cooperative society was set up in 1946 to curb unfair practices and exploitation by some of the milk producers.

Over the period Amul emerged as a big brand name, thanks to hard works of generations of team working in organization and leadership of Tribhuvandas Patel, Varghese Kurien and H M Dalaya. A logistic model of collecting milk from small villages was set up. Numerous milk collection centers created in far villages and the milk collected from villages was sent to Taluka places where milk is chilled and sent to Amul Dairy for processing. This worked as model for other states and virtually turned in to a movement due to great political backup. This movement is known as White Revolution of India.

Today this organization is an international brand. It is owned by more than 3.6 million milk producers prominently in the state of Gujarat.
